Story and sneak peek.

Walking in the woods with my family, picking little forest strawberries and immediately consuming them along the way…Baskets full of mushrooms… Spotting birds between the branches.

For my inspiration I quite often go back to my childhood. The memories of it make me smile and warm my heart. I think my parents did a truly great job at providing me with experiences that later in life brought me beautiful reminiscences and with these are inspirations.

I especially remember our trips to the woods for mushroom picking. We would leave for the woods early, about 4 am. My dad carrying me to our tiny car half asleep and I am waking up with the forest scenery. Grandma and grandad explaining about mushroom picking. Having a picnic lunch in the meadow, don’t know why, but food always tasted better on our mushroom picking adventures. The sounds, the light just beautiful…I even can smell the woods air, now, while writing about it.

My imagination would run wild on those trips, I would dream about bears walking up to me. Or are witch flying above and forest creatures following our steps. I would end up in imaginary fairy-tale for the rest of the day.

The fairy-tale is called skazka in Russian and that’s what I called my new collection, because SKAZKA designs are enthused by those memories…

All above, is my little story and sneak peek of my new work. I thought it’s important to share here with you a bit of my life, in order to understand what is behind my designs and where some of them are coming from.

Printed!

My screens have been exposed a week ago if not earlier, but everyday seems there was something getting in my way of printing. Today it’s done! Printed! The first batch of new print is done. Fresh design, fresh colours I think it turned out ok. When I was working on this design, I was thinking of those who love to craft, sew and quilt. If you are one of those, would you use it for you project? I will be printing more tomorrow, in some warm and comfy colours, maybe orange, red and yellow…

BlueBerry Ash textiles

I have promised earlier to share the results of dyeing fabrics, and I did, except not here, but on my Facebook page. I tend to use Facebook often instead of blog as it’s easier to post and instant feedbacks are very encouraging. So this is for those who read my blog and not Facebook 🙂 These scarfs that I have made are from dyed earlier fabrics… There is other bunch of scarfs in different colours on its way; in fact it’s in a dye bath this moment slowly absorbing ink. And as soon as all are done, they will be listed in my shop!

Building up stock

I spent past few days in a studio printing as many quarters of fabric as I can, for an upcoming Finders Keepers, time flying fast and I am worrying I won’t be able to get done all the things that I have planed, but hey, I am trying and most important I am having fun!

Once a week #7

OK, I have been bad, I haven’t posted anything for more then a week.

The idea was to upload every Monday one of my works,

but I have been busy and neglected this place for a while.

May I pretend that its Monday today…

Sketches

I am in process of making bags, I have not finally decided what kind of designs I will use for my bags, but hoping to get them done by the end of next week and at least one by this Sunday for photo shoot.  For this bags I am using my ‘Knock-Knock” design that been screen printed on heavy weigh pure cotton fabric and soft brown leather.

Excited

The day in screen-printing studio can be exhausting, but exciting at the same time when your results as good as you expected… My “Huts” design came out nicely! Especially it’s looking good on one of the pillow cases, which I am trying to get ready for Finders Keepers market that will be held in Sydney in May.

Printed on cotton-linen with water-based textile ink.
